Early Inspiration
By the age of six, I knew I wanted to be a pharmacist. My interest began during visits to the local chemist with my mother and grandmother. Whether it was for a headache, a cold, or another ailment, I was intrigued by how the staff seemed to know exactly what to recommend. Watching them confidently provide medications that offered relief sparked my curiosity.
As time passed, my interest deepened. On hospital visits, I was captivated by the precision with which dispensing staff prepared and dispensed medications. I admired their focus, skill, and the sense of responsibility associated with their work. These early experiences helped shape my aspirations.
My aunt, who was a licensed chemical seller, noticed my growing interest in pharmacy and invited me to assist in her shop. That experience gave me hands-on exposure to the field and confirmed that pharmacy wasn’t just a passing interest; it was what I truly wanted to do. My class mates in High School nick-named me 'Dr. Ike' because they always sought my views during ill-health.
Over the years, various individuals encouraged me to consider a career in medicine, but I had already found my passion and purpose. I wanted to be involved in the healing process through pharmaceutical care, aiming to help others by offering knowledge, compassion, and the appropriate medication when needed.
From basic school, through high school and college, my love for pharmacy continued to grow, as I worked my way up, starting as a Pharmacy Technician and Medical Office Assistant, to a Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, and eventually, a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
What Pharmacy Means to Me

- A path of service that requires both scientific expertise and genuine care for others

What Keeps Me Going
During the most challenging times and setbacks in my journey, the joy and relief I witnessed on the faces of those I served motivated me to keep going. Their progress served as a reminder of why I chose this path. In difficult times, I held on to the hope of the many lives I had impacted, and those I could still impact through my work, a hope that continues to inspire and sustain me each day.
